According to Netzence, KlimateRide’s integrated safety architecture is designed to enhance safety protection by up to 80 per cent through the combined deployment of artificial intelligence, identity verification, real-time trip monitoring, intelligent route analysis, emergency response systems and other technology-enabled safeguards.

The company said the platform was developed in response to the changing realities of transportation in Nigeria, particularly in Lagos, where millions of daily journeys take place against the backdrop of traffic congestion, rising transportation costs, security concerns and increasing demand for faster and more dependable delivery services.

For many commuters, safety has become one of the most important considerations when choosing how to travel.

Concerns around unverified drivers and passengers, limited accountability, poor emergency response mechanisms and inadequate trip monitoring have intensified calls for mobility platforms capable of using technology to provide greater protection for users.

KlimateRide seeks to respond to these concerns through a multi-layered safety system incorporating verified driver-partners, rider identification measures, real-time GPS trip monitoring, emergency SOS functionality, trip-sharing capabilities, anonymised communication and technology-enabled incident response.

Its AI-driven technology also enables intelligent route optimisation and trip monitoring designed to identify unusual journey patterns and improve operational visibility across the platform.

Netzence believes that integrating these technologies within a single safety ecosystem represents an important advancement for Nigeria’s ride-hailing industry.

Speaking on the launch, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Netzence Sustainability Limited, Associate Professor Sadiq Sani, said KlimateRide was created to demonstrate how African technology companies can develop solutions to complex transportation challenges while responding to the realities of local markets.

Engineering& Technology

“KlimateRide represents our vision for the future of mobility in Africa. Transportation should not simply be about connecting a passenger with a vehicle. It should be about using technology to make every journey safer, smarter, more transparent and more economically sustainable.

“We have developed a platform that brings artificial intelligence, advanced safety technology, ride-hailing and delivery services together within one connected ecosystem. Our objective is to create a mobility platform that protects users, empowers driver-partners, supports businesses and contributes to the development of smarter and more sustainable cities.”

Beyond passenger transportation, KlimateRide is positioning itself as an integrated mobility and logistics platform capable of supporting individuals, families, entrepreneurs and businesses.

Users can access ride-hailing and package delivery services through the platform, while businesses can utilise its technology-enabled logistics infrastructure to support the movement of goods and services.

This integrated model reflects the changing nature of the global mobility industry.

Increasingly, digital transportation platforms are evolving beyond traditional taxi services to become comprehensive mobility ecosystems connecting people, businesses and goods.

Travel& Transportation

Nigeria’s rapidly expanding digital  economy makes this transition particularly significant.

With a growing population, expanding cities, rising e-commerce activity and millions of small and medium-sized businesses requiring affordable logistics services, demand for efficient technology-enabled transportation continues to increase.

KlimateRide seeks to capture this opportunity by creating a platform through which passenger transportation and delivery services can operate within a unified digital infrastructure.

For driver-partners, the platform introduces a  business model designed to improve earnings opportunities and provide greater operational transparency.

Drivers on the platform retain 92 per cent of their fares, with KlimateRide charging an eight per cent commission, significantly below the commission rates associated with several established operators in the market.

The company believes the model will enable driver-partners to retain more of their earnings at a time when rising fuel prices, vehicle maintenance expenses and other operating costs continue to affect profitability across Nigeria’s transportation sector.

Autos& Vehicles

Driver-partners can also access additional earning opportunities through package delivery and logistics services, reducing dependence solely on passenger trips.

Ahead of the Lagos launch, Netzence conducted extensive driver-partner engagement and onboarding activities as part of preparations for commercial operations.

Demographics

The initiative involved physical onboarding sessions, digital registration campaigns, platform demonstrations and training programmes designed to familiarise driver-partners with KlimateRide’s technology, safety requirements and operational standards.

The company said feedback gathered during the beta testing and driver onboarding phases played an important role in improving platform stability, user experience, trip management and operational performance.

The launch of KlimateRide also comes at a critical moment for Lagos, with a population estimated at more than 20 million people and one of Africa’s most dynamic urban  economies, the city faces enormous transportation and logistics challenges.

Traffic congestion costs businesses and individuals significant productive time, while the continued expansion of e-commerce and digital businesses has increased demand for reliable last-mile delivery services.

Technology is increasingly expected to play a central role in addressing these challenges.

Engineering& Technology

Artificial intelligence, data analytics, digital payments, GPS tracking and intelligent route optimisation are creating opportunities to improve transportation efficiency, reduce operational costs and provide users with greater visibility and control over their journeys.

KlimateRide’s entry into the market reflects this broader transition toward technology-enabled urban mobility.

According to Netzence, the platform’s AI capabilities are designed to improve trip allocation, route optimisation, demand analysis and operational efficiency.

By analysing mobility patterns and platform activity, the technology can support more efficient connections between riders and driver-partners while contributing to improved journey planning.

The platform also places environmental sustainability at the centre of its long-term strategy. As governments and businesses around the world accelerate efforts to reduce transportation-related emissions, cleaner mobility technologies are becoming increasingly important.

Business& Industrial

KlimateRide is designed to support the gradual adoption of electric vehicles, hybrid vehicles and compressed natural gas-powered transportation as Nigeria’s clean mobility ecosystem continues to develop.

Autos& Vehicles

The platform’s sustainability strategy is expected to incorporate technology-enabled carbon tracking and environmentally responsible transportation solutions as part of its broader vision for the future of African mobility.

Associate Professor Sani said the Lagos launch represents the beginning of a much larger ambition for the company.

“Lagos is one of Africa’s largest and most important cities, and launching KlimateRide here provides us with an opportunity to demonstrate what intelligent mobility technology can achieve.

“Our ambition extends beyond building another ride-hailing application. We are creating a smart mobility ecosystem capable of connecting transportation, logistics, technology, safety and sustainability.

“We believe the future of African mobility will be built by platforms that understand African cities, African businesses and African consumers while deploying world-class technology to solve local challenges.”

Industry observers have increasingly argued that the future of Nigeria’s mobility market will be determined by platforms capable of balancing affordability, safety, driver economics and technological innovation.

High operating costs remain a major concern for driver-partners, while commuters continue to demand affordable fares, improved safety and more reliable services.

At the same time, Nigeria’s growing digital  economy requires mobility infrastructure capable of supporting the rapid movement of goods and services.

KlimateRide’s strategy is to address these challenges simultaneously.

By combining AI-driven technology, a 92 per cent driver commission, advanced safety systems, ride-hailing and delivery services, the company believes it can establish a new model for smart mobility in Nigeria.

For Netzence, the launch also reflects a broader commitment to developing African technology solutions capable of contributing to economic development.

Engineering& Technology

Every completed journey creates an earning opportunity for a driver-partner. Every successful delivery supports an individual or  business. Every safer journey strengthens confidence in digital transportation. Every more efficient route can save time, reduce operating costs and improve productivity.

This connection between mobility and economic development is becoming increasingly important as African cities expand.

The cities of the future will require more than additional vehicles and roads. They will require intelligent transportation systems capable of using technology and data to move people and goods more safely and efficiently.

With the launch of KlimateRide in Lagos, Netzence is positioning itself at the centre of that transformation.

The company says its immediate priority is to build a trusted and reliable mobility ecosystem while expanding its community of riders, driver-partners and business users.

Following its beta testing programme, driver-partner onboarding activities and the release of its mobile applications, KlimateRide is now available to users (in Lagos) through the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. The app will be available in other Nigerian cities at a later time.
